White seabass inhabits the eastern Pacific between Magdalena Bay, Baja California, but also from Mexico to Juneau in Alaska. White seabass are usually found near the mainland shore over sandy bottom or around near weeds beds, but they may also be found sometimes in shallow surf or deeper waters.
Seabass may be fished by drift fishing or still fishing with live baits or by slow trolling, deep jigging or casting with feathers or small, flashy metal lures. They mainly eat anchovies, sardines, small mackerel, squid and other small fishes and crustaceans. One of the best world hot spot is near the mainland shore and around Catalina and San Clemente Islands. seems that the best fishing is at night near the bottom. Off California island white seabass is most numerous from about late April to all September.
