SHORTRAKER ROCKFISH (Sebastes borealis)

Angler David Utoft caught this massive 18.6 kg (41 lb 1 oz) shortraker rockfish (Sebastes borealis) on July 31 2016 that could become the new All-Tackle world record.

Shortraker rockfish  is an offshore deep bottom  specie that lives from from the California seas to southeastern Kamchatka Peninsula in Russia. Seems it arrive at one meter - 39 inches length  and weighs up to 44 pound - 20 kg.
One of the best hot spot for fishing this predator is in the Gulf of Alaska, where you can find it abundant between depths of 250 to 400 meters - 900 to – 1,300 feet.
