FLATHEAD AUSTRALIAN (Platycephalus fuscus)


Greg Finney landed a giant flathead at Mallacoota in Victoria (Australia). The giant lizard weighed around 14 kilogram - 29 lb.

Flathead fishes are mainly found in Australian waters including in estuaries and coastal bays (Port Phillip Bay, from Cairns in Queensland to the Gippsland Lakes in Victoria). They lives over sand, mud, gravel and sea-grass and can sometimes inhabit estuarine waters.
