GAR LONGNOSE (Lepisosteus osseus)





The longnose gar, is a very common fish and it is found throughout the eastern half of the US through the Mississippi River system and tributaries.
You can find it also in Florida's Lake Okeechobee, the Gulf states, and the Rio Grande between Texas and Mexico; and sometimes far north as Minnesota, the Great Lakes, and Quebec in Canada. It lives also in all Dakota state.
This gar is generally distinguished from other gars by its longer, more slender body, and especially by its longer. Longnose gar can grows up to 50 lb - 24 kilo.
