OILFISH (Ruvettus pretiosus)


This oilfish at just over 220 lb -100 kg which is over 22 kg more than the current IGFA all tackle record, was caught on "Ultimate Lady" while drifting for swordfish.

The oilfish, (Ruvettus pretiosus), is a species of snake mackerel with a wide distribution in tropical and temperate oceans. This predator fish can be found at depths of from 800 to 900 metres (300 to 3.000 feet).

Very few is known about the fishing of this deep ocean fish.
